Treatment for children with chronic ITP not responding to steroids
The Outcome of the Thrombopoietin Receptor Agonists in Pediatric Patient With Persistent or Chronic ITP Unresonsive to Steroids
NA · Sohag University · NCT06568913
This study tests a new treatment for children with chronic ITP who haven't improved with steroids to see if it can help raise their platelet counts and reduce the need for surgery.

What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of thrombopoietin receptor agonists in pediatric patients suffering from persistent or chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) who have not responded to steroid treatments. The study aims to evaluate how these newer medical treatments can improve platelet counts and reduce the need for more invasive procedures like splenectomy. By focusing on a population that has been resistant to traditional therapies, the trial seeks to provide alternative options for managing this autoimmune condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients with persistent or chronic ITP who have not responded to steroid treatments.
Not a fit: Patients with other causes of thrombocytopenia or those newly diagnosed with ITP may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve the quality of life for children with chronic ITP by increasing platelet counts and reducing bleeding risks.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with thrombopoietin receptor agonists in treating ITP, indicating a potential for success in this approach.
