What this trial studies
This study aims to adapt the LIFT and REFLECT interventions specifically for older adults living with HIV who have experienced childhood sexual abuse. The intervention, called CoSHA (Coping with childhood Sexual Abuse, HIV, and Aging), will be compared to a control group to assess its effectiveness. Participants will be older adults aged 50 and above, who are living with HIV and exhibit depressive symptoms. The study seeks to address the unique challenges faced by this population in coping with trauma and managing their health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 50 and older who are living with HIV and have depressive symptoms.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 50 years old or have 100% adherence to antiretroviral therapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the mental health and quality of life for older adults living with HIV who have experienced trauma.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is tailored for a specific demographic, similar interventions for trauma and mental health in older adults have shown promise in other studies.
