Transtheoretical Model education to improve HPV vaccine knowledge and readiness in first-year nursing students
The Effect of a Transtheoretical Model-Based Educational Intervention on First-Year Nursing Students' HPV Knowledge, Health Beliefs, and Vaccination Behavior Intentions
NA · Cukurova University · NCT07248904
This program will try a Transtheoretical Model-based education to see if it increases first-year nursing students' HPV knowledge and makes them more ready to get the HPV vaccine.

What this trial studies
The study delivers a structured educational program based on the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) to first-year nursing students and compares outcomes with a control group that does not receive the program. Participants complete baseline and follow-up questionnaires measuring HPV knowledge, health beliefs (susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers), vaccination intentions, and behavioral readiness stage. The intervention uses scheduled sessions and tailored materials designed to move students through TTM stages toward vaccination action and maintenance. The primary outcomes are changes in knowledge, beliefs, intentions, and stage progression after the intervention period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are first-year nursing students at Cukurova University's Faculty of Health Sciences who read Turkish, have not received prior comprehensive HPV education, and agree to attend all sessions and provide written consent.
Not a fit: Students who are already fully vaccinated against HPV, have previously received comprehensive HPV education, or cannot attend the required sessions are unlikely to gain additional benefit from the program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could increase HPV vaccine knowledge and readiness among nursing students, potentially leading to higher vaccination uptake and improved patient counseling in their future practice.
How similar studies have performed: Previous education-based and TTM-guided interventions in other populations have frequently improved HPV knowledge and vaccination intentions, though evidence for increased actual vaccine uptake has been variable.
