What this trial studies

This observational study aims to translate the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) into Urdu and validate its psychometric properties among patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Conducted at the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, the study will involve 90 participants selected through purposive sampling. The translation process will include input from bilingual translators and an expert committee to ensure the accuracy and cultural relevance of the scale. Data collection will involve administering the final Urdu version of the FSS to fibromyalgia patients and assessing their understanding of the questionnaire items.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and above who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the American College of Rheumatology criteria and are fluent in Urdu.

Not a fit: Patients with other chronic pain conditions, sleep disorders, psychiatric disorders, or those participating in other studies may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a reliable tool for assessing fatigue in Urdu-speaking fibromyalgia patients, leading to better management of their condition.

How similar studies have performed: While the translation and validation of assessment tools is a common practice, this specific approach to the Fatigue Severity Scale in the context of fibromyalgia is relatively novel.
