What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the efficacy of trans-spinal magnetic stimulation in enhancing gait and functional mobility in adults who have experienced chronic stroke. Participants will undergo either active trans-spinal magnetic stimulation combined with treadmill training or a sham stimulation for a duration of two weeks. The study will assess both the effectiveness of the treatment and any potential side effects associated with the intervention. By comparing the outcomes of the two groups, researchers hope to determine the true impact of this innovative approach on stroke recovery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults who have experienced a stroke at least six months prior and are experiencing gait impairments.
Not a fit: Patients with metallic implants in the spinal cord or major orthopedic/rheumatological disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve mobility and quality of life for chronic stroke patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of trans-spinal magnetic stimulation is relatively novel, similar studies in related fields have shown promising results in enhancing mobility.
