What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a targeted right/left discrimination training program in enhancing pain perception and reducing functional disability among patients with fibromyalgia. Participants will undergo this training alongside their usual care regimen. The study will focus on adults aged 35 to 55 who meet the diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia as established by the American College of Rheumatology.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 35 to 55 diagnosed with fibromyalgia who have stable medication use.
Not a fit: Patients with other musculoskeletal or neurological disorders or those currently involved in another pain management program may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could lead to improved pain management and enhanced daily functioning for fibromyalgia patients.
How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach is novel, similar interventions targeting sensory discrimination have shown promise in other pain management studies.
