What this trial studies

This research investigates the relationship between brain excitability and balance function in patients with Parkinson's disease, focusing on effective physical therapy methods. It aims to explore how paired associative stimulation (PAS) and anticipatory postural adjustments (APA) training can enhance motor performance and safety in daily activities. The study will evaluate different stimulation parameters to optimize brain excitability regulation and assess the impact of balance exercise training on functional performance.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with a clinical diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.

Not a fit: Patients with musculoskeletal injuries on their legs or osteoporosis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve balance and gait stability in patients with Parkinson's disease, enhancing their quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using electrical stimulation to enhance brain excitability in both healthy individuals and those with Parkinson's disease, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
