What this trial studies
This pilot study evaluates the effectiveness of gamified training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) among schoolchildren in Brazil. It employs a randomized cluster design involving 400 children from various schools, divided into two age groups. The study aims to improve the quality of chest compressions through active learning methodologies and serious games, with assessments conducted before and after the training. The project runs from 2022 to 2026 and includes informed consent from participants and their guardians.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are schoolchildren aged 7 to 17 years who have not received prior training in Basic Life Support.
Not a fit: Children who have previously undergone CPR training or cannot attend all planned activities will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this training could significantly enhance the CPR skills of schoolchildren, potentially saving lives in emergency situations.
How similar studies have performed: While gamified approaches to CPR training are emerging, this specific intervention is novel and has not been extensively tested in similar settings.
