What this trial studies
This study tests two training protocols for physicians on anal cancer screening and treatment, comparing a standard protocol from high-income settings with a tailored protocol for Nigeria. The research aims to identify barriers to learning the procedure and develop strategies to enhance training effectiveness. An implementation science committee will co-design an improved training program, which will then be evaluated through a Hybrid Type 2 trial to monitor outcomes over time. The study focuses on integrating anal cancer care into existing HIV treatment frameworks.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are physicians with a medical degree and experience in HIV/AIDS care in Nigeria.
Not a fit: Patients who are not healthcare providers or those without experience in HIV/AIDS care may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the capacity of healthcare providers in Nigeria to effectively screen and treat anal cancer, potentially reducing cancer incidence in high-risk populations.
How similar studies have performed: While similar training interventions have been implemented in other contexts, this specific approach tailored to the Nigerian setting is novel.
