What this trial studies
This study focuses on providing aspiration training to parents of children who are in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to help them manage their child's care after discharge. It addresses the psychological and practical challenges faced by parents, particularly those who have not previously performed aspiration. The training aims to reduce parental anxiety and improve the quality of care provided at home, thereby potentially decreasing the frequency of hospital readmissions. The study will involve parents who can read and speak Turkish and whose children are at the discharge stage from the PICU.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are parents of children who have undergone aspiration treatment in the PICU and are preparing for discharge.
Not a fit: Parents of children whose health status varies during education or those with mental illnesses may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this training could empower parents to provide better care for their children at home, reducing anxiety and improving health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific method of aspiration training for parents in the context of PICU care is relatively novel.
