What this trial studies
This pilot study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a class and hands-on practice focused on ergonomic body positions for obstetrics and gynecology residents. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving both the class and guided practice, and the other receiving only the class. The study will assess whether the intervention group learns and retains knowledge about safe body movements to prevent work-related injuries. The goal is to determine if such ergonomic training can enhance the safety and well-being of surgical residents during their training.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are obstetrics and gynecology residents in their first to fourth postgraduate years at Montefiore Medical Center.
Not a fit: Patients who are non-OB/GYN residents, fellows in OB/GYN subspecialties, or medical students will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this training could significantly reduce the risk of work-related injuries among obstetrics and gynecology residents.
How similar studies have performed: While ergonomic training in surgical settings is a growing area of interest, this specific approach has not been widely tested, making it a novel investigation.
