What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of simulation training with the Miya Model to enhance the operating room performance of novice surgeons performing vaginal hysterectomies. Vaginal hysterectomy is preferred due to its lower morbidity and quicker recovery compared to other techniques, yet its use has declined due to inadequate training. The study aims to validate the impact of structured simulation training on surgical outcomes for this specific procedure. Participants will include surgical residents who have limited experience with vaginal hysterectomies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are surgical residents who have performed ten or fewer vaginal hysterectomies.

Not a fit: Patients who have prior training in vaginal hysterectomy or have performed more than eleven procedures may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this training could lead to improved surgical skills and outcomes for patients undergoing vaginal hysterectomy.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that simulation training can improve surgical outcomes, suggesting this approach may be effective for vaginal surgery as well.
