What this trial studies

This study examines the impact of peer education on midwifery students' knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM). It employs a randomized controlled pre-test-post-test design, where students receive standard EFM training followed by peer teaching. The effectiveness of this approach is evaluated through various assessment tools, including an achievement test and a self-efficacy scale. The goal is to enhance the clinical skills of midwifery students in monitoring fetal health during pregnancy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are second-year midwifery students who are taking the Prenatal Period-I course for the first time and have not received prior EFM training.

Not a fit: Students who are absent on the day the EFM topic is taught will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the training and preparedness of midwifery students in EFM, leading to better fetal health monitoring.

How similar studies have performed: While peer education in medical training is a recognized approach, this specific application in EFM training for midwifery students is relatively novel.
