What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the impact of motivational interviewing (MI) training on medical interns in France and its effect on vaccine hesitancy among parents of adolescents. By employing a validated scale to measure vaccine confidence, the study will compare the hesitancy levels of parents before and after the interns receive MI training. The research will be conducted in two university departments of general medicine located in Marseille and Nice, utilizing a multicenter, clustered exposure/non-exposure design.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are medical interns who are completing their training in general medicine and have not previously received MI training.

Not a fit: Patients who are not involved in the training process or who have already undergone MI training may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance vaccine uptake among adolescents by improving parental confidence in vaccination.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies, such as the Promovac study in Quebec, have shown success with motivational interviewing in addressing vaccine hesitancy, although this specific approach in the French context is novel.
