What this trial studies

This project investigates the effectiveness of different visuomotor training programs on fine motor skills, visual perception, visual-motor integration, and handwriting performance in kindergarten children. Participants will be randomized into three groups: a control group with no intervention, a group receiving Chinese character-based training, and a group receiving traditional training. The training will occur twice a week for 12 weeks, and the effectiveness will be assessed at the end of the fall semester of the first grade.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are kindergarten children who are native Mandarin Chinese speakers and will be entering first grade.

Not a fit: Children with significant neurological, muscular, or skeletal disorders, or those with uncorrectable visual or hearing problems may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this training could significantly improve handwriting performance and visuomotor skills in young children.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar visuomotor training approaches, suggesting potential for success in this study.
