What this trial studies

The CARE project is a pilot intervention aimed at improving the training of college health and counseling center providers to better support transgender and gender diverse (TGD) students who are at risk for sexual violence and hazardous drinking. This cluster-randomized trial will evaluate a novel training program that enhances providers' knowledge and skills in delivering affirming care to TGD individuals. The study will assess the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of this training across multiple college campuses, ultimately aiming to increase the accessibility of health resources for TGD students and reduce rates of alcohol use and sexual violence.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are college health and counseling center providers who interact with undergraduate students.

Not a fit: Providers who do not interface with students or are not participating in the parent study will not benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve the health outcomes and safety of transgender and gender diverse students in higher education.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel in its specific focus on TGD students, similar interventions targeting vulnerable populations have shown promise in improving health outcomes.
