What this trial studies

This observational study aims to develop an artificial intelligence system that can recognize anatomical structures during video-directed endotracheal intubations. It will involve patients of all ages who are undergoing this procedure in the anesthesia and intensive care departments of the Capital Region of Denmark. The study will collect data on the performance of intubations and the anatomical landmarks identified by clinicians, without any interventions or comparisons. The goal is to enhance the understanding of intubation techniques and improve patient safety.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients of all ages requiring video-directed oral or nasal endotracheal intubation.

Not a fit: Patients with upper airway malformations or those who have had a failed intubation attempt due to equipment malfunction may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved intubation techniques and reduced complications during the procedure.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using AI for medical procedures, suggesting potential success for this approach.
