What this trial studies
This study evaluates a new psychological intervention called SKILLS-ER, designed to improve emotion regulation in adolescents aged 13-18 with ADHD. The intervention consists of eight weekly sessions that involve both the adolescents and their parents. The study employs a single-case multiple baseline design, allowing for repeated measurements and pre-intervention baselines to assess feasibility and effectiveness. Researchers will analyze the data using visual and quantitative methods to understand the impact of the intervention on emotion regulation skills.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 13-18 diagnosed with ADHD who experience difficulties in emotion regulation.
Not a fit: Patients with intellectual disabilities, autism, psychosis, bipolar disorder, severe depression, or those undergoing other psychological treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance emotional regulation skills in adolescents with ADHD, leading to improved overall functioning.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel in its specific application to adolescents with ADHD, similar interventions targeting emotion regulation have shown promise in other populations.
