What this trial studies

This is a cross-sectional observational study conducted at Binh Dan Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City that will enroll men aged 18 and older diagnosed with erectile dysfunction using the IIEF-5. Participants will complete questionnaires and clinical measurements to record demographic data, ED severity and characteristics, BMI, comorbidities, psychological status (DASS-21), and lifestyle factors such as smoking and alcohol use. The study will classify participants by traditional medicine syndrome patterns and analyze the distribution of those patterns and their associations with the recorded variables. Data collection is planned for January through August 2026 to provide a snapshot of pattern distribution in this patient population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Men aged 18 or older diagnosed with erectile dysfunction at Binh Dan Hospital between January and August 2026 who can understand and complete the study questionnaires and give informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients who cannot read or complete the questionnaires, those unwilling to continue participation, or men not diagnosed at Binh Dan Hospital during the study window are unlikely to benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help clinicians combine traditional medicine pattern information with clinical and lifestyle data to improve diagnosis and tailor integrative care for men with ED.

How similar studies have performed: Similar observational surveys of traditional medicine syndrome patterns have been performed in other conditions and settings, but clear, generalizable links between TM patterns and ED outcomes are limited, making this work partly novel for Vietnam.
