What this trial studies
This study aims to investigate the effects of touching the fetal head during the perineal crowning phase of labor on the duration of the second stage of labor. The intervention is designed to be a simple, cost-free method that may enhance the birthing experience for both the mother and newborn. By applying this technique, the researchers hope to promote a more comfortable postpartum period in line with mother and baby-friendly practices. The study will involve primiparous women who meet specific eligibility criteria and will be conducted at Ege University in İzmir, Turkey.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are primiparous women who are at least 37 weeks pregnant and have no obstetric risks.
Not a fit: Patients with obstetric risks or those who are not primiparous may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to shorter labor times and improved outcomes for mothers and newborns.
How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach is novel, similar studies exploring non-invasive techniques during labor have shown promising results.
