What this trial studies
This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the iHERO Toolkit, designed to assist young adults aged 18-30 with Type 1 diabetes in managing their health insurance and financial stress. The toolkit was developed in collaboration with the diabetes community and experts, focusing particularly on those who are racially or ethnically diverse and on Medicaid. Participants will engage in a series of surveys over one year to assess the toolkit's impact on diabetes self-management and health insurance literacy. The study seeks to provide insights into how financial and health insurance resources can improve outcomes for this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are young adults aged 18-30 with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes for at least one year.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have Type 1 diabetes or those unable to understand English may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance diabetes self-management and reduce financial stress for young adults with Type 1 diabetes.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies focusing on health insurance literacy and financial stress in chronic conditions have shown promise.
