What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) compared to a placebo in improving the mental health of parents with children suffering from pediatric feeding disorders. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the FACT intervention or an attention-control condition, and will complete questionnaires at four different time points. Additionally, parents will record meal times to assess the impact of the intervention on feeding behaviors. The study aims to identify factors that affect the feasibility of delivering FACT to this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are parents aged 18 and older of 2-6-year-old children diagnosed with pediatric feeding disorders who are currently receiving outpatient treatment.
Not a fit: Parents with significant cognitive impairments, those who do not speak English, or those without access to high-speed internet may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the mental health of parents, leading to better feeding outcomes for their children.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using FACT for this specific population is novel, acceptance and commitment therapy has shown promise in other mental health contexts.
