What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an EHR-integrated texting platform in managing recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) compared to usual care. Participants will receive evidence-based clinical guidance and educational resources through text messages to help manage their symptoms and prevent future infections. The study will assess whether this approach can reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions and improve patients' self-efficacy in managing their condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are females aged 18 and older who experience recurrent UTIs and are receiving care from Penn Urogynecology or Penn Urology.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of multidrug resistant UTIs or chronic pelvic pain may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to better management of recurrent UTIs and a reduction in unnecessary antibiotic use.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using digital health interventions for managing similar conditions, suggesting this approach may be effective.
