What this trial studies
This study evaluates the usability and acceptability of the P-STEP mobile application among adults with chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, and heart disease. Participants will use the app for 12 weeks and complete assessments at baseline, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks to provide feedback on their experience. The goal is to understand how well the app supports patients in managing their health and encourages physical activity in relation to air quality and pollution. The study is observational, focusing on real-world usage rather than a controlled intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, coronary heart disease, or heart failure who can use an Android smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients who do not speak English, have severe mobility issues, or are currently receiving palliative care may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could enhance self-management and improve health outcomes for patients with chronic conditions.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile applications for chronic disease management, indicating potential success for this approach.
