What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of educational videos designed to enhance nephrology fellows' knowledge and confidence in providing conservative kidney management (CKM) for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. The trial involves randomizing 126 nephrology fellows from US fellowship programs into two groups: one receiving the CKM-EMPOWER videos and the other not receiving them. Participants will complete web-based surveys to measure changes in their knowledge and confidence regarding CKM. The goal is to improve the training of nephrologists in this important area of patient care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are nephrology fellows currently enrolled in US nephrology fellowship training programs.
Not a fit: Patients who are not nephrology fellows or those who are not involved in nephrology training will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this could lead to better-informed nephrologists who can provide more effective conservative management options for patients with chronic kidney disease.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on similar educational interventions specifically for CKM, the approach of using educational videos has shown promise in other medical training contexts.
