What this trial studies
This project explores a new approach to promote health and prevent age-related physical frailty through a program called Cafe Move. The study aims to assess physical function in older adults and encourage them to engage in preventive health behaviors by comparing their physical abilities to peers. It involves a single cohort of 36 participants who will be monitored over a control phase and then during the intervention phase to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of Cafe Move. The findings will help shape a larger controlled trial in the future.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are independent-living older adults who can consent and perform basic physical activities without assistance.
Not a fit: Patients who are not legally autonomous to consent or are institutionalized will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could empower older adults to improve their physical health and reduce the risk of frailty.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar interventions targeting physical function in older adults have shown promise in enhancing health behaviors.
