Testing an app to help EMS teams with pediatric emergencies
Reducing Disparities for Children in Rural Emergency Resuscitation (RESCU-ER): Developing and Testing the Acceptability and Feasibility of an Integrated Linear Cognitive Aid for Pediatric Resuscitation in a Pilot RCT

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a linear cognitive aid designed to support emergency medical services (EMS) teams during pediatric resuscitation scenarios. Participants will engage in high-fidelity simulations of critical resuscitation situations, where they will be randomized to use either their current cognitive aids or the new linear cognitive aid. The study will assess technical performance, teamwork, and cognitive load to determine the effectiveness of the new intervention in both urban and rural settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are active EMS providers who are 18 years or older and can communicate in English.
Not a fit: Patients who are not clinically active EMS providers will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could enhance the performance of EMS teams, potentially improving outcomes for children in emergency situations.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using cognitive aids for emergency medical situations, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
