What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a new ankle brace designed for athletes involved in cutting sports. Participants will engage in running and cutting activities while wearing different types of ankle braces, including standard and low-profile options, as well as no brace. The study will assess the impact of these braces on athletic performance and comfort through surveys and performance metrics. By comparing various bracing conditions, researchers hope to determine the optimal support for preventing ankle injuries.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are English-speaking athletes aged 18 to 40 who have prior experience with ankle braces and are currently cleared for all physical activities.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of lower extremity surgery, chronic ankle instability, or recent ankle injuries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved ankle support solutions that enhance athletic performance and reduce injury risk for athletes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on ankle bracing, this specific approach comparing multiple brace types in athletic contexts is relatively novel.
