What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the feasibility of a 1-month meditation program delivered through a smartphone app for professionals working with youth in the juvenile legal system. The program aims to address high levels of anxiety, depression, and burnout among these professionals by utilizing mindfulness meditation to improve emotion regulation. Participants will include officers and other staff directly involved with legal-involved youth in Cook County, one of the largest juvenile legal systems in the U.S. The results will help shape a future randomized controlled trial to assess the program's effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are professionals currently working with youth in the juvenile legal system who are English-speaking and have access to a smartphone.
Not a fit: Individuals not working with youth in the juvenile legal system or those who do not meet the eligibility criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the mental well-being of professionals working with youth in the legal system.
How similar studies have performed: While mindfulness interventions have shown promise in various settings, this specific approach targeting legal system professionals is relatively novel.
