Telerehabilitation to improve postpartum pelvic floor function
Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Telerehabilitation on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in Postpartum Women: A Single-Blind Randomised Controlled Trial
NA · Ankara Etlik City Hospital · NCT07228806
This trial will try telerehabilitation-guided pelvic floor exercises to see if remote support helps first-time mothers (6 weeks after a term vaginal birth) improve pelvic floor function and symptoms compared with standard exercises alone.

What this trial studies
Women meeting eligibility criteria will be assigned to perform pelvic floor muscle and core stabilization exercises either with telerehabilitation support or without remote support. The intervention arm uses remote guidance to increase exercise adherence during the postpartum adaptation period. Outcomes will compare pelvic floor symptoms, functional measures, and quality of life between groups. The study is conducted at a single center and targets primiparous women at six weeks postpartum after a term vaginal delivery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: First-time mothers aged 18–45 who delivered at term by vaginal birth and are about six weeks postpartum, without prior incontinence or the listed exclusion conditions, are the intended participants.
Not a fit: Women who had a cesarean delivery, assisted delivery (forceps/vacuum), significant perineal rupture, prior fecal/urinary incontinence, neurological or psychiatric disease, diabetes, or cognitive problems are excluded and would not be expected to benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, telerehabilitation could increase exercise adherence and reduce postpartum pelvic floor symptoms, improving women's quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Pelvic floor muscle training is an established treatment for postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction, and early studies of telerehabilitation show promising improvements in adherence and symptoms but broader confirmation is still limited.
