What this trial studies
This study aims to improve access to pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) through a telerehabilitation program. By utilizing technology such as smartphones, patients will be able to participate in educational and exercise programs designed to enhance their physical capacity and quality of life. The program addresses barriers to traditional rehabilitation, such as transportation issues and low social support, potentially leading to better health outcomes. The effectiveness of telerehabilitation in increasing exercise capacity and reducing dyspnea will be evaluated.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with COPD and have not previously participated in pulmonary rehabilitation.
Not a fit: Patients under 18, those who are pregnant, have previously participated in pulmonary rehabilitation, or have any malignancy or disorders limiting exercise may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of life and physical capacity for COPD patients who struggle to access traditional rehabilitation services.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with telerehabilitation approaches for COPD, indicating that this method is promising and not entirely novel.
