What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of the Otago Exercise Program (OEP) delivered via telerehabilitation on various health outcomes in older adults with a history of falls. Participants aged 65 to 78 are randomly assigned to one of three groups: telerehabilitation OEP, face-to-face OEP, or a control group. The program consists of 45-minute sessions conducted three times a week for eight weeks, with assessments on pain, walking speed, muscle strength, fear of falling, anxiety, quality of life, and balance at multiple time points. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of telerehabilitation in improving these outcomes compared to traditional methods.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults aged 65 to 78 who can walk independently and have experienced at least one fall in the past year.

Not a fit: Patients who require walking aids or have cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance balance and reduce the fear of falling in older adults, leading to improved quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar exercise interventions for older adults, suggesting potential success for this approach.
