What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a telerehabilitation program for patients recovering from ankle fractures. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a telerehabilitation program conducted at home using smartphones or the usual in-person rehabilitation at a hospital. The study will assess differences in functional recovery and quality of life between the two groups through monthly follow-ups for three months and a telephone evaluation at six months. The trial will ensure data quality and blinding of evaluators to maintain objectivity in results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are IMSS beneficiaries over 18 years old with Weber A, B, or C ankle fractures who have access to a telephone with internet.
Not a fit: Patients unable to complete rehabilitation instructions or those with disabilities that limit compliance may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance recovery and improve quality of life for patients with ankle fractures.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with telerehabilitation approaches, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
