What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the impact of telephone education on patients who have undergone lumbar disc herniation surgery. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an experimental group, which will receive online educational support for six weeks post-discharge, or a control group that will only receive standard nursing care. The primary focus is to measure changes in fear of movement and overall quality of life between the two groups after the intervention period. By comparing these outcomes, the study seeks to determine the effectiveness of telehealth education in enhancing recovery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 who have undergone their first lumbar disc herniation surgery and can communicate in Turkish.

Not a fit: Patients under 18, those who are illiterate, or have hearing and speech disabilities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce fear of movement and improve quality of life for patients recovering from lumbar disc surgery.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of telephone education in this context may be novel, similar telehealth interventions have shown promise in improving patient outcomes in other surgical recovery scenarios.
