What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a telepharmacy protocol in managing uncontrolled hypertension among elderly patients compared to traditional in-person pharmaceutical care. Participants will undergo four visits, including assessments of clinical parameters and medication adherence, conducted by trained pharmacists. The study will also assess patient satisfaction and the socio-demographic profile of the participants. By comparing teleconsultation with in-person care, the trial seeks to determine the best approach for improving health outcomes in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly patients diagnosed with uncontrolled hypertension who can use a cell phone.
Not a fit: Patients with controlled blood pressure or those unable to use a cell phone due to cognitive impairments will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the management of hypertension in elderly patients, leading to better health outcomes and improved medication adherence.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with telepharmacy approaches, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
