What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of home-based physical and cognitive exercise interventions to alleviate chronic pain in patients with Parkinson's disease. It aims to provide a cost-effective and accessible method for patients to engage in these interventions through remote technology. The study will involve 166 Veterans aged 40 and older, who will be randomly assigned to different intervention groups to assess pain severity outcomes after three months. The findings may enhance care strategies for Veterans suffering from chronic pain associated with Parkinson's disease.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Veterans aged 40 and older with a physician diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson's disease and chronic pain.
Not a fit: Patients with recent history of myocardial infarction or significant cardiac issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve pain management for patients with Parkinson's disease, enhancing their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using nonpharmacological treatments for chronic pain in Parkinson's disease, indicating potential for success in this approach.
