What this trial studies
This project aims to adapt an existing occupational therapy intervention, known as OT4ASD, to a telehealth delivery model for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The study will train therapists to implement this adapted intervention and evaluate its feasibility and acceptability to both parents and therapists. Additionally, the project will assess whether children participating in the telehealth intervention show improvements in their daily living skills. The initiative responds to the urgent need for effective remote therapeutic services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 4 to 12 years diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder who exhibit sensory symptoms.
Not a fit: Patients with uncorrected primary sensory deficits or those who do not meet the age or diagnostic criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could provide accessible and effective occupational therapy for children with ASD, improving their daily living skills.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with telehealth interventions for various conditions, suggesting potential for this approach in treating ASD.
