What this trial studies
Researchers will culturally adapt the evidence-based Tele Savvy caregiver education program for Spanish-speaking Latino caregivers and deliver it remotely in a Stage 1b single-arm clinical trial. The intervention includes weekly group video sessions and asynchronous instructional videos, and participants complete study interviews before and after the program. The primary outcome is caregiver mastery, with secondary outcomes including caregiver stress burden, depressive symptoms, and self-efficacy. Eligible participants are Hispanic/Latino adults who speak and read Spanish, provide at least four hours per week of care to a community-dwelling person with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias, and have internet access and a device.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Hispanic/Latino adults (18+) who speak and read Spanish, provide at least four hours per week of care to a community-dwelling person with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias, have access to an internet-connected device, and are willing to join online group sessions and study interviews.
Not a fit: People who cannot use a tablet or smartphone, who are not Spanish literate, or who plan to move the care recipient to an institutional setting within six months are unlikely to benefit from this remote program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, Latino caregivers may gain stronger caregiving skills, increased confidence, and reduced stress and depressive symptoms.
How similar studies have performed: Tele Savvy is an evidence-based caregiver education program with prior positive results in caregiver trials, but this specific culturally adapted version for Latino caregivers is novel and has limited prior testing.
