What this trial studies
This project aims to provide tele-rehabilitation services for children with congenital and acquired developmental disabilities, particularly in the wake of disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It utilizes Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to deliver personalized rehabilitation interventions in a home-based environment, ensuring continuity of care. The program focuses on neuropsychomotor and language functions, allowing for family involvement and continuous monitoring by clinical staff. The TABLET-TOSCANA project seeks to develop innovative organizational models to enhance rehabilitation access and effectiveness for affected children and their families.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 6 to 30 years with congenital or acquired developmental disabilities who can understand and cooperate with rehabilitation activities.
Not a fit: Patients with severe comorbidities, severe cognitive disabilities, or those classified at MACS level V may not benefit from this tele-rehabilitation program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the rehabilitation outcomes and quality of life for children with developmental disabilities and their families.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with tele-rehabilitation approaches for developmental disabilities, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
