What this trial studies

This study evaluates the impact of online education on the anxiety and self-efficacy of parents whose children have ventriculoperitoneal shunts due to hydrocephalus. Conducted as a prospective, randomized controlled trial, it involves 60 parents divided into experimental and control groups. Data will be collected through various assessments, including a parent knowledge test and anxiety scales, to measure the effectiveness of the educational intervention. The research will take place at Pamukkale University Hospital from March 2024 to February 2025.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are parents of children aged 0-6 with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt who are willing to participate.

Not a fit: Parents who have difficulty accessing the Internet or whose children are over 6 years old will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce parental anxiety and improve self-efficacy in managing their child's condition.

How similar studies have performed: While similar educational interventions have shown promise in reducing anxiety in other contexts, this specific approach is relatively novel.
