Targeted pelvic floor muscle exercises for men with post-micturition dribbling

Efficacy of Targeted Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercises for Treatment of Men With Primary Post Micturition Dribbling: a Randomized Controlled Trial.

Not applicable Interventional Mansoura University · NCT07554300

What this trial studies

Men with primary post-micturition dribbling are randomized to 12 weeks of either targeted pelvic floor muscle training or non-targeted exercises. Baseline and follow-up measures include medical history, physical exam, urine analysis, the Hallym Post-Micturition Dribble Questionnaire (HPMDQ), and a post-void pad test to quantify leakage and residual urine. The study compares changes between groups to see if targeted training reduces symptom frequency, severity, and measured leakage. Interventions are noninvasive, exercise-based, and delivered at a single center.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Men aged 18 to 40 with primary post-micturition dribbling who can perform pelvic floor exercises and attend clinic visits are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients whose dribbling is secondary to BPH, urethral stricture or diverticulum, congenital urethral or penile malformations, neurological disorders, or other major systemic disease are unlikely to benefit from this exercise-based approach.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, targeted pelvic floor training could reduce post-urination leakage and improve daily comfort and confidence for affected men.

How similar studies have performed: Pelvic floor muscle training has shown benefit for some male lower urinary symptoms in small studies, but evidence specifically for primary post-micturition dribbling is limited.
