What this trial studies
This project aims to develop a nutritional education program specifically designed for Saudi adults with profound hearing impairments, utilizing Saudi-sign language for effective communication. The study will first adapt and translate a General Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire to ensure cultural relevance and then assess the program's effectiveness through a randomized control trial. Participants will be divided into control and experimental groups to evaluate improvements in nutritional knowledge and health status. The approach addresses significant gaps in healthcare access and education for this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Saudi adults aged 18-65 who are proficient in Saudi Sign Language and have a known case of profound hearing impairment.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those under 18, those who do not know Saudi Sign Language, or those with other disabilities that affect participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the nutritional knowledge and health outcomes of adults with profound hearing impairment.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited literature on similar tailored nutritional education programs for this specific population, the approach of using sign language for health education is innovative and largely untested.
