Systematic early support to keep adults with eating disorders engaged in care
Study of the Effectiveness of a Systematic Minimal Early Intervention on Care Engagement in Adults With Eating Disorders Requesting Specialized Treatment: A Monocentric Pilot Study.
NA · Centre Hospitalier St Anne · NCT07411807

What this trial studies
Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa often lead to long delays or loss to follow-up before specialized care begins. This monocentric, low-risk interventional pilot at the CMME (GHU Paris Psychiatrie & Neurosciences) offers a minimal early intervention consisting of three structured telephone contacts (around days 7, 45 and 90 after request validation) and five online support group sessions during the waiting period. The study will compare care engagement outcomes to determine whether this package reduces the proportion of patients who are lost before starting treatment and will measure acceptability of the approach. Eligible participants are adults (≥18) residing in Île-de-France who have requested specialized eating-disorder care and can communicate by telephone in French.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (18+) living in Île-de-France who have submitted a request for specialized care at the CMME for anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa and who can communicate by phone in French are the intended participants.
Not a fit: Patients with BMI >30 kg/m², those already in specialized eating-disorder care, individuals with major hearing/communication barriers in French, or patients under legal protection are unlikely to benefit or are excluded from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could reduce dropouts during the waiting period and increase the number of patients who actually begin specialized eating-disorder treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Brief contact and guided-support interventions have shown promise in reducing attrition in other mental-health services, but targeted early-contact programs specifically for eating disorders are limited and not widely validated.
