What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on patients with type 2 diabetes who have undergone intensive insulin therapy during hospitalization. It aims to explore the timing and methods for switching to other treatment regimens after initial insulin therapy, considering factors such as glycemic control, patient compliance, and diabetes complications. Data will be collected on various patient characteristics and follow-ups will occur at specified intervals to assess treatment adjustments. The goal is to establish guidelines for transitioning from intensive insulin therapy to alternative treatments.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with type 2 diabetes who have started intensive insulin therapy during hospitalization.

Not a fit: Patients with type 1 diabetes, acute diabetes complications, severe infections, or those who are pregnant may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide clearer guidelines for managing type 2 diabetes after intensive insulin therapy, potentially improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited studies specifically addressing regimen switching after intensive insulin therapy, the approach of optimizing diabetes management post-insulin therapy has shown promise in related research.
