Sutureless repositioning and scleral fixation of a subluxated lens using permanent iris retractors
Sutureless Technique for Repositioning and Scleral Fixation of the Capsular Bag - Intraocular Lens Complex With Permanent Use of Iris Retractors

What this trial studies
This single-center interventional protocol uses a sutureless technique to reposition and scleral-fixate the capsular bag–intraocular lens complex while leaving iris retractors in place permanently. Outcomes tracked include best-corrected visual acuity, refractive results, intraocular pressure, lens tilt and decentration, and intra- and postoperative complications. Adult patients with lens subluxation and no prior ocular surgery or major corneal, uveitic, glaucomatous, or macular disease are enrolled. Procedures and follow-up are performed at the Ophthalmology Department of the Military Institute of Medicine in Warsaw.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults with lens subluxation who have not had prior ocular surgery and who do not have significant corneal disease, active uveitis, advanced glaucoma, or macular conditions are the intended candidates.
Not a fit: Patients with prior ocular surgery, corneal haze or transplant history, active uveitis, advanced glaucoma, or macular disease were excluded and are unlikely to benefit from this approach.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the technique could offer a less invasive, durable option to restore lens position and improve vision without using sutures.
How similar studies have performed: Sutureless scleral fixation approaches have been reported with growing success, but permanent use of iris retractors for this purpose is less commonly described in the literature.
