What this trial studies
This survey examines how consumers modify their diets after being informed about a health claim regarding flaxseed. A total of 384 participants will be recruited, ensuring a balanced representation of gender, income, and age. Participants will record their dietary intake for three days, then be instructed to incorporate 40g of ground flaxseed into their diet for two weeks without additional guidance. After this period, they will report on their success and any barriers faced in making these dietary changes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 years and older living in the Winnipeg metropolitan area who are willing to consume flaxseed.
Not a fit: Patients with allergies to flaxseed or those already consuming the target amount of flaxseed daily may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into effective health messaging that encourages healthier dietary choices among consumers.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies on dietary changes in response to health claims exist, this specific approach focusing on flaxseed is relatively novel.
