What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore various weaning methods used in the pediatric population, focusing on the transition from a milk-based diet to a diversified diet. It examines traditional weaning, Baby-led Weaning (BLW), and Baby-led introduction to solids (BLISS), considering factors such as cultural practices and infant development. The study will gather data from parents of infants aged 4 to 18 months and pediatricians in Italy through questionnaires, assessing the prevalence and practices of different weaning approaches.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents of infants aged 4 to 18 months who can provide informed consent and have access to the internet.
Not a fit: Parents of infants with chronic neurological diseases, dysphagia, or other specific dietary needs may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into optimal weaning practices that promote healthy dietary habits in infants.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on weaning practices, this specific observational approach focusing on diverse methods in a pediatric population is relatively novel.
