What this trial studies
This study aims to investigate the surgical treatment strategies for patients diagnosed with Goal B type basilar invagination. It seeks to clarify the underlying causes of this condition and evaluate the effectiveness of different surgical approaches, including posterior fossa decompression and posterior compression-distraction-reduction-fixation. By analyzing surgical outcomes, the study hopes to establish a more standardized treatment protocol for this complex condition. Conducted at Xuanwu Hospital in Beijing, the study will involve a prospective design to gather data on patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with Goal B type basilar invagination who are physically fit for surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who have been diagnosed with conditions other than Goal B type basilar invagination or those who are not fit for surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and standardized treatment protocols for patients with Goal B type basilar invagination.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on surgical strategies for basilar invagination, this specific approach to Goal B type is novel and not extensively tested.
