Surgery to fix lateral knee dislocations using a specific graft technique
Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction (MPFLR) With Fascia Lata Allograft, Based on Isometry Assessment Combined With Elmslie-Trillat Tibial Tuberosity Osteotomy.
NA · Artromedical Konrad Malinowski Clinic · NCT05868434
This study is testing a new surgical method to fix knee dislocations in people who haven’t improved with other treatments, to see if it helps them feel better and prevents future problems.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the outcomes of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLR) using fascia lata allograft, guided by isometry assessment, in conjunction with Elmslie-Trillat tibial tuberosity osteotomy. The focus is on patients who have experienced lateral patellar dislocation and subsequent instability after non-operative treatments have failed. The primary outcomes measured will include patient-reported outcomes through the IKDC and KOOS questionnaires, as well as the rate of retear following the procedure.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who have experienced lateral patellar dislocation leading to instability and have not benefited from non-surgical treatments.
Not a fit: Patients with active knee inflammation, prior surgeries on the patellofemoral joint, or fractures around the knee may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve stability and function in patients with recurrent lateral patellar dislocations.
How similar studies have performed: While similar surgical techniques have been explored, this specific combination of MPFLR and Elmslie-Trillat osteotomy is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
