What this trial studies

This study evaluates the outcomes of bilateral synchronous simultaneous stone surgery (BSSSS) in patients with bilateral kidney stones. The approach aims to perform both surgeries concurrently to reduce the number of operations and overall surgical time. Patients will undergo supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) as part of the intervention. The study seeks to assess the effectiveness and safety of this innovative surgical technique.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for kidney stone surgery who have bilateral kidney stones.

Not a fit: Patients with unilateral kidney stones or those not scheduled for surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to fewer surgeries and shorter recovery times for patients with kidney stones.

How similar studies have performed: While the concept of simultaneous surgeries is gaining traction, this specific approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
